Ironically, Samsung is tipped to be working on a foldable phone similar to Huawei's, despite professing its faith in the Galaxy Fold's design. It seems to be preparing to expand its share of the foldable phone market.
According to Samsung, the Fold is a "luxury" item, for people who want the convenience of the phone, with the benefits of a larger screen.
Samsung will reportedly reveal the vertically-folding clamshell device late this year or early next year. This will be joined or followed by another device that is said to fold outwards like the Huawei Mate X. Hence, it is useful in displaying information when the main display is "off". While they mightn't exactly go mainstream just yet, given the prohibitive price points, we can expect the trickle to turn into a flood at some point. And just so you know, the Galaxy Fold costs about $2,000, which is over Rs 1 lakh in INR. The foldable display will be included in the interior of the phone. Also in the rumor mix is the potential for an in-display fingerprint sensor to be incorporated into this class of phone. "It's much more natural than doing it the other way around, so we went for that even though it presents the harder technical challenge", Chung told the outlet.
After a comprehensive evaluation process, DisplayMate Technologies has deemed the Galaxy S10's display "the most color accurate display that we have ever tested, [and] nearly certainly considerably better than your existing smartphone, 4K UHD TV, tablet, laptop, and computer monitor". Some Galaxy S10 models were already sold out in the United States last week, just a few days after preorders, and the phone is doing well in Korea too, according to some estimates. Each side of the device will house its own battery, which Samsung boasts will combine to create a single power source. Vendors like Microsoft, Huawei, and Samsung have all released their own insights into what foldable tech might look like over the past year. On the outside, you have a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 21:9.
