Former The Voice Singer Janice Freeman Dies at 33

Janice Freeman, known for being a contestant on NBC's The Voice, has passed away.

Reports indicate Freeman was at home with her husband when she had trouble breathing. Her husband Dion called 911 and performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but the singer was pronounced dead at a local hospital around 5:30 PM.

No stranger to serious health complications, Freeman had previously been vocal about her battle with lupus which is an autoimmune disease that attacks the body's tissue causing fatigue, chest pains and swollen joints.

The 33-year-old singer competed on season 13 of the reality show competition in 2017, and sang "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons for her audition song.

Her biography from her time on the show said Freeman's goal in achieving a successful music career was to "provide stability" for her daughter Hannah. She also beat cervical cancer and survived kidney failure as a child.

Freeman revealed that her family had been struggling with looking for a place to live when Cyrus helped her out financially, paying her rent for six months.

Cyrus had remained involved in Freeman's post-Voice life by helping her get established with new housing for several months until she was able to obtain a permanent residence. Her former coach paid tribute to Freeman on social media Sunday, posting a picture to her Instagram Story of a rainbow over a lush landscape. "My heart and prayers go out to [her] daughter and family". And now this ... please do yourself a favor and listen to her performances.

"She felt very weak the next morning, and my clients were very concerned and suggested she check into an ER before getting back on a plane, but Janice chose to fly home to L.A.", the rep continued".
