This line of mixed precipitation will be steadily progressing toward the north Tuesday evening and eventually, many parts of the state will see a shift to rain before everything comes to an end. That means expect your drive Tuesday morning to be a slow one.

Here's how Tuesday could play out: snow will begin early in the morning, changing into ice pellets later in the day. I think my forecast of 3 to 6 inches of snow accumulation and up to a quarter-inch of ice is a safe bet. Sleet and freezing rain will add an extra danger to your drive, with 0.1"-0.25" of ice accumulation possible throughout Central Pennsylvania. Scattered rain showers for Tuesday afternoon that will transition to scattered snow showers Tuesday night. The snow will really ramp up between 3 am and 6 am.
