Woods said that he planned to play in The Players Championship next month in Ponte Vedra Beach as the tournament makes its move back to March from May.

"This year to be able to ramp up a schedule and to be able to know what I can and can't do going into the event is a lot more comforting".

"We will have a great event next week featuring two of the top four players in the World in our defending champion Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka as well as other recent former champions Rickie Fowler, Padraig Harrington, Adam Scott, Ernie Els, Michael Thompson, Russell Henley, Vijay Singh and Rory Sabbatini". The Jupiter Island resident, who several times has referred to the Honda Classic as his "hometown tournament", announced Thursday on social media he has opted to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational March 7-10 rather than take on the PGA National course next weekend. Woods said he wanted to limit his schedule this year to avoid some fatigue issues, which he complained about toward the latter half of 2018. This particular PGA Tour events remains one of the only ones he's yet to win in his career.

Woods admitted on Wednesday that he was wary of burn-out and fatigue which would hamper his bid for a 15th major title, and a fifth Masters win.

Woods is now playing at this week's WGC-Mexico, and he carded an even-par 71 on day one.
