Houston's KHOU-11 today reported that the 44-year-old Marks, who has three pending murder charges against him, escaped from a prisoner transport this morning in Conroe, Texas, about an hour north of Houston.

Cedric Joseph Marks, 44, eluded police custody Sunday morning in Conroe, Texas, about 40 miles north of Houston, while the transport van had stopped at a McDonald's, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said on Twitter, labelling the escapee as "extremely risky".

Marks had been in Kent County, Mich., jail for allegedly breaking into the home of ex-girlfriend Jenna Scott on August 21.

Cedric Marks is seen in the video shirtless while wearing trousers that appear to be part of an orange prison jumpsuit. The protective order request was denied. The burglary charge Marks was arrested on was related to Scott.

"Marks is considered extremely unsafe", sheriff's officials wrote. She also said she had her phone in her hand, and Marks took it from her and threw it.

Marks faces charges in multiple killings, officials said, including the deaths of Michael Swearingen, 32, and Jenna Scott, 28, in Temple, Texas, in January, according to Conroe police.

Police in Minnesota said Marks remained a person of interest in the 2009 disappearance of April Pease, who was the mother of another of his children. Residents in the area were asked to stay inside after the police deemed him "extremely dangerous".

The two were involved in a fierce custody dispute in Washington state and Pease, who had a drug problem, went to live in a Bloomington women's shelter because she said she was afraid of Marks. According to an arrest affidavit, she told detectives that she drove Swearingin's vehicle to Austin in an attempt to hide it from investigators. It says he choked her on two occasions, causing her to pass out.

Marks has not been named as a suspect in the disappearance of Scott and Swearingin.
