Samsung's Galaxy Fold keeps its 7.3-inch main display on the inside. Translating these numbers into human language, the Mate X should theoretically be able to download a full-featured 1GB movie in just three seconds when your network actually supports such speeds (and that probably will not be as fast as we wish). That leaves the flexible screen exposed to the outside world at all times and at risk of scratching.
When folded out the screen measures at eight inches with 2480 x 2000 resolution and has a thickness of 5.4mm. The other one, with the spine, is 6.38 inches across and 2480 x 892 pixels in resolution. The design approach is very different to that of Samsung and Huawei.
It's an astonishingly slender device.
Thus, it becomes apparent, that the Huawei Mate X will in no way be a mass consumer product. On the back of that grip is a vertically-aligned triple camera system, along with a flash. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as the power button.
From what I've seen so far, I do feel like the Mate X has a far better design than its Samsung rival. In both modes, the display is larger than Samsung's.
When unfolded, the two displays click flat to form that larger 8in panel that is the body of the device and can be used like a tablet.
Check out that "falcon hinge" design.

Weaponized water: India threatens to divert 3 rivers away from Pakistan

Huawei has taken the wraps off its Mate X foldable smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2019. There's a Kirin 980 processor and the Balong 5000 modem on board. This makes the chipset capable of achieving downlink speed of up to 4.6Gbps.
The ostensible advertisement also touts the Mate X as a 5G device.
"This phone is not only for today for 5G but also for future 5G". According to a recent leak, the phone would go by the "Mate X" title. How about battery life? In comparison, Samsung's Fold costs $1,980. Within 30 minutes, Huawei promises, you can charge the Mate X up to 85-percent - or around 3,825 mAh - from fully discharged. And then comes the battery to support all this.
Impressive as this all is, there are still plenty of questions to be settled.
The company was expected to showcase the foldable smartphone-come-tablet during its MWC press conference in Barcelona on Sunday, but the device was notably absence. Pricing, too, is still to be confirmed.
Huawei accomplished this by reducing the width of one half of the display and inserted a ridge along on the right edge of the phone.
Thoughts on the Huawei Mate X?
All of this contributes to a price tag that approaches two grand-the Galaxy Fold starts at $1,980 and will be available in the second quarter.
