House Intelligence Committee Votes to Send Russia Transcripts to Mueller

President Donald Trump on Wednesday hit out at what he called the "ridiculous partisan investigations" into his presidency, a reference to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe of Russian interference into the 2016 election.

"SEALED DOCUMENT placed in vault".

The committee's decision to release the remaining transcripts to the special counsel will allow Mueller to comb them for inconsistencies, or answers that may not match up with evidence the special counsel has amassed through documents and interviews with the same people.

It's not clear what the sealed document might be, but it was part of the Mueller docket, and not the Southern District of NY, where Cohen also has a cooperation agreement. The committee closed the probe in March 2018, back when Republicans controlled the House of Representatives and the committee, declaring it had found "no evidence of collusion, coordination or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russians". Democrats strongly objected at the time, saying the Republicans prematurely closed the investigation. The investigation, Schiff said, would also explore whether Trump or his associates have "sought to influence US government policy in service of foreign interests" and any potential obstruction into the various investigations.

The Committee also voted to release all investigative transcripts to the public in order to provide us "with greater transparency and insight into Russia's operations and the USA government's response".

Trump's longtime self-described "fixer", lawyer Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to charges including lying to Congress. After Cohen pleaded guilty to the Mueller charges on November 29, Trump called his former lawyer a liar, "a weak person and not a very smart person".

Stone is accused of lying to Congress about the 2016 campaign's efforts to use stolen emails to undercut Trump's Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton. Democrats had previously pushed the GOP-led committee to release all of the transcripts to Mueller, but Republicans said Mueller hadn't requested them.

Mueller requested Stone's interview transcript past year and the panel voted to release it in December.

Schiff also said the committee plans to release all transcripts of testimony given to the committee. The transmission of the transcripts to Mueller, expected immediately, will give him full access to all of the committee's interviews.

Democrats also opposed a Republican motion at the meeting Wednesday to subpoena several witnesses. The witnesses include the president's son Donald Trump Jr., as well as his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
