The Grammys did not immediately respond for comment on whether Grande would be performing Sunday.

(CNN)Ariana Grande has said thank you, next to the Grammy Awards.

The popstar had been scheduled to perform at the February 10 show, but as well as not taking to the stage, she reportedly won't even attend this year's ceremony. She followed that with "Imagine" and "7 Rings", the latter of which broke Spotify's record for most plays within a 24-hour period.

One new report claims that Ariana Grande and the team behind the awards show had a disagreement over her song choices. Kendrick Lamar and Drake are the top Grammy contenders, earning eight and seven nominations respectively while Brandi Carlile is up for six awards. I am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year'.

According to Variety, the singer has been left feeling "insulted" after organisers of the show wouldn't allow her to perform new single "7 Rings" despite other performers not having the same stipulations imposed against them.

Author, Charles Blow wrote: "I used to have a small Superbowl party every year, if only for my kids". Last year, DuVernay shared a similar message in support of Kaepernick, 31, ahead of the big game.

Complicating matters, the show had been promoting Grande as a performer on social media.

In the summer of 2018, Grande treated fans to her fourth full-length album, Sweetener, and earned herself her third No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

Despite these creative obstacles, Ariana has chose to not let her fans bear the brunt of this.

Due to the timing of Thank U, Next's drop and her nominations for Best Pop Vocal Performance for "God Is a Woman" and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener, as well as her upcoming Sweetener tour, Grande was an obvious selection to perform at the Grammys.

A similar thing happened with Lorde at last year's ceremony, with bosses reportedly refusing to let her perform a song from her Melodrama album.
