Pedati says the flu is now reported in every region of the state.

The early start to the flu season was partly to blame for filling emergency rooms with flu-infected people, the Public Health Agency of Canada has said.

Reports of Americans infected rose dramatically after the holidays a year ago, and the season ended in almost 80,000 deaths that were traced to the flu.

The Kentucky Department for Public Health is reporting "widespread" flu activity, which is the highest level the state gives for the virus. They are still encouraging people to get their flu shots.

Of the 185 children who died from the flu previous year, 80% had not received a flu shot, according to the CDC.

But people are taking no chances with this year's flu strain.

Most confirmed flu cases and hospitalizations have been of people under the age of 65. Children younger than 5 had the highest incidence of hospitalization, with 10 per 100,000 people.

According to the CDC website, vaccines are recommended to contain H1N1, H3N2 and Victoria lineage-all different types of influenza.

Man City went into Sunday's game against Southampton on the south coast 10 points adrift of the Reds at the top of the table. It will be very hard, very tough, but for them as well. "We will be prepared for a very tough game".

This is true for the Polk County Health Department which provides vaccinations at their walk-in clinic throughout the flu season. "There is still plenty of flu season to come".

Influenza activity is considered moderate as the US enters the peak of flu season.

Even though the flu season is underway, there are still potentially several months of the season left, and it's not too late to get a flu shot.

Healthcare workers are also advised to avail of the vaccine in order to protect both themselves and those that they care for.

Some, like Michael Cohen of Sussex County says he previously resisted the flu shot, but is happy he got one.
