Donald Trump marks MLK day with surprise 2-minute visit to memorial

The Science Center of Iowa is offering free general admission on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Princeton historian Julian Zelizer on Monday smacked down Vice President Mike Pence for comparing President Donald Trump favorably with civil rights icon Martin Luther King.

"Good morning everybody. Great day, it's a handsome day", Trump said. Great day. attractive day. Trump, alongside Pence, laid a wreath at the foot of the memorial before quickly returning to his motorcade.

President Trump does not have any events scheduled to honor King, according to NBC News White House correspondent Geoff Bennet.

"I just want to remember him as being.a person of standard and order and equality for all people, because I love all people and Dr. King loved all people", said Tyler Jones, one of the children to attended the celebration.

Trump also drew heat a year ago for spending Martin Luther King Jr.
