A Houston-area woman who was wounded in a shooting that killed her 7-year-old daughter says the gunman fired a series of shots while driving alongside the woman's auto and then continued to fire as he pulled in front of the vehicle.

"We need our communities help", tweeted Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. She said one of the other girls told her something was wrong.

The woman driver, possibly in a panic, was able to flee the scene in her auto, racing onto the nearby Belt Parkway before coming to rest on the median.

Jazmine's mother, LaPorsha Washington, 30, was shot in the arm and Jazmine's 6-year-old sister was struck by shattered glass, the sheriff said.

"We're going to use all resources available to bring this killer to justice", police spokesman Jesse Razo said, Local12 reported. He was described as being in his 40s and having a beard, Razo said. The auto also sped away before it came to a stop and the woman called 911, authorities said.

Investigators say they have an image from surveillance video of a pickup whose driver fired several shots into a vehicle carrying a family, killing a 7-year-old girl and wounding the child's mother. "We will be looking for you, and we will find you".
