"We have a situation where the Chinese have wide-ranging access to our markets, our access to their markets is extremely limited", Harper said, adding that the trade deficit has been making China more wealthy and causing loss of millions of jobs in North America. The detention was carried out at the request of the US judicial authorities, who claim Huawei violated the sanctions the USA has imposed on Iran.
Huawei says it is not aware of any wrong doing of Ms Meng and will follow the bail hearing.
Ms Meng also said she was taken to a hospital for treatment for hypertension after being detained.
The Crown attorney argued against granting Meng bail because she's so wealthy that she will easily be able to pay whatever is required and then flee. A judge had accepted Meng's request to bar both police and prosecutors from releasing information about the case prior to the hearing.
Meng has contended that Huawei sold Skycom in 2009.
Reports indicates that in-house OS development started in 2012, though many other companies have failed to create a third major mobile OS option.
Over the weekend, China summoned both the Canadian and USA ambassador to protest Meng's detention.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng told US ambassador Terry Branstad the United States had made an "unreasonable demand" on Canada to detain Meng while she was passing through Vancouver, China's Foreign Ministry said.
Le said earlier in a separate statement that USA actions have violated the "legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and are extremely bad in nature", while also pledging further action.
'The Chinese side firmly opposes this and strongly urges the United States to attach great importance to China's solemn and just position, ' it said.

A report by the official Xinhua News Agency carried on the Chinese Foreign Ministry's website said that Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng called in Canadian Ambassador John McCallum on Saturday over Meng's detention. There was no immediate reaction from Canada.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry is summoning the U.S. and Canadian ambassadors in protest over the detention of a Huawei executive in Vancouver, describing it as "lawless" and "extremely vicious".
Meng is specifically accused of lying to a United States bank, identified by her lawyer as "Hong Kong Bank", about the use of a covert subsidiary to sell to Iran in breach of sanctions.
Meng's arrest has threatened to increase U.S. Ltd, which Huawei has described as one of its "major local partners" in Iran. Prosecutors also allege that Ms. Meng and Huawei misled American banks about their business dealings in Iran.
Meng stated Huawei's engagement with Skycom was a normal business cooperation, when Skycom was in fact entirely controlled by Huawei.
Last week, BT Group in the United Kingdom said it will be stripping Huawei equipment from its mobile carrier EE's 3G and 4G core networks, and will not be using the Chinese technology giant for its 5G networks.
But 'one thing that is undoubtedly true and proven is the USA is trying to do whatever it can to contain Huawei's expansion in the world simply because the company is the point man for China's competitive technology companies, ' the daily said.
U.S. intelligence agencies have said American citizens shouldn't use Huawei phones, and USA government agencies are banned from buying the company's equipment.
