In northern California, the death toll from the Camp Fire reached 46 after more human remains were recovered, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said.

Earlier in the day, Honea had listed 228 people as missing.

"Everyone, thus far, that we knew in Paradise has had confirmation that their house is gone".

This fire has become the state's deadliest as more than 52,000 people have been evacuated and 1,385 are in shelters due to the Camp Fire.
