A 15-man Saudi team that flew to Turkey before the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, the slain Saudi journalist, must have been acting on orders, not necessarily from King Salman, Turkey's Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said.

The cleanup team arrived in Istanbul on Oct 11, nine days after Khashoggi's death, and visited the consulate every day from Oct 12 to Oct 17, according to Sabah.

Saudi officials initially insisted Khashoggi had left the consulate, then said he died in an unplanned "rogue operation".

Saudi consulate staff tried to dismantle CCTV equipment at their Istanbul compound to help cover up the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, Turkish media have claimed.

"All that we want right now is to bury him in Al-Baqi (cemetery) in Medina (Saudi Arabia) with the rest of his family", Salah Khashoggi said.

Cavusoglu said Tuesday that after multiple conversations with Saudi King Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is convinced the king was not involved.

Salah Khashoggi, 35, a dual US-Saudi citizen, and his brother, Abdullah, who lives in the United Arab Emirates, spoke with CNN in an interview that aired Sunday and described the past few weeks of uncertainty.

In his interview with Fox News, Prince Alwaleed denied reports that he had been tortured in custody and that officials stripped him of his wealth.
