Earl Thomas's worst fear became reality on Sunday and he let the Seattle Seahawks know his displeasure after suffering what could be a season-ending leg injury.

Defensive back Earl Thomas #29 of the Seattle Seahawks gestures as he leaves the field on a cart after being injured.

After the game, Coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Thomas had suffered a lower leg fracture.

Some of Thomas' teammates said they understood his frustration.

The image of Thomas seemingly giving the finger to his own team will likely be the final and lasting image of the All-Pro in a Seattle uniform. It would appear that the Seahawks overplayed their hand, and Thomas' gesture literally adds insult to injury. This is a very, very hard moment that most people would never understand what it's about, " Carroll said.

Carroll was sympathetic to what must have been going through Thomas' head at that moment. The Seattle safety's left leg buckled as he tackled Williams in the end zone.

"Earl wanted an extension and at the end of the day he didn't get that".

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Sunday morning that the Seahawks were looking for two second-round picks in exchange for Thomas.

"This is the business of football and nothing is guaranteed to you as a player, coach or anybody else", Ryan said.

Thomas has been seeking a long-term contract from the Seahawks. The team won that game of chicken, in that Thomas, tied for the 75th-highest paid player in the NFL this season, delivered three interceptions (tied for the league lead) in four games before his tragic injury. Linebacker K.J. Wright could still be out a couple more weeks as he continues to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery he had in late August.
