Trump Receives Letter from North Korea's Kim

Trump expressed his interested in a tweet posted after midnight as the USA military flew home what are believed to be the remains of more than 50 service members after the first such handover by North Korea in more than a decade.

The White House said Thursday that President Donald Trump received a new letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and responded quickly with a letter of his own. Also, thank you for your nice letter - l look forward to seeing you soon!,' the president tweeted Thursday morning.

"The ongoing correspondence between the two leaders is aimed at following up on their meeting in Singapore and advancing the commitments made in the U.S. -DPRK joint statement", White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said in a statement.

Last week, North Korea handed over what is believed to be the remains of 55 US soldiers who died during the 1950-1953 Korean War, following through on an agreement made between the two leaders at their historic Singapore Summit in June.

The pledge to transfer war remains was seen as a goodwill gesture by Kim at the Singapore summit, and was the most concrete agreement reached by the two sides so far. "Today, our boys are coming home".
