Thai authorities have said they are welcoming all offers of help in the rescue effort for the boys, who became trapped in a complex cave system in mountainous northern Thailand on Jun 23 when rising waters hemmed them in.

Two boys were brought out on Monday afternoon from a deep cave in Thailand where four were rescued on Sunday, leaving just six more and their soccer coach inside, a military source said.

The boys brought out of the dark, winding cave on Monday are "safe and conscious", said Chiang Rai province acting Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn, who is in charge of the rescue effort.

The rescue mission has been a huge operation, led by the Royal Thai Navy's SEAL unit, and supported by a cast of hundreds. Narongsak said experts told him the new rain could shrink the unflooded space where the boys are sheltering to 108 square feet. The boys have reportedly yet to meet their families, though a senior official told The Guardian that they could be reunited on Monday night.

At least one more boy has been rescued from Thailand's Tham Luang Cave as the harrowing mission to rescue the stranded children and their soccer coach stretched into its second day.

The boys are being guided out of the cave by two divers with oxygen tanks.

Anupong said divers need to place more air canisters along the underwater route, adding, that part of the process could take several hours. "But they still need to be kept away from their parents and others due to fear about infection", he said.

The first four boys in the football team were rescued on Sunday and are in a stable condition in hospital.

The search and rescue operation has riveted people both in Thailand and internationally, with journalists from across the globe travelling to this town along the border with Myanmar to report on the ordeal.

Divers have rescued four more boys from a vast cave system in northern Thailand on the second day of a challenging mission, as the first four rescued boys recover in hospital.

"You start to hallucinate, you see things, you hear things", said Dr. Robert Glatter, emergency physician at Lenox Hill Hospital. On Sunday, four boys were safely evacuated from the cave.

"Doctors have treated the boys and now all of them are OK and cheerful, and are talking normally", said Jesada Chokedamrongsuk, from the Thai Ministry of Public Health. The most risky part is the first kilometer, during which the divers and boys are required to squeeze through a narrow, flooded channel.

The four rescued boys have been transported to a Chiang Rai hospital for treatment and medical evaluations, reported CBS.

But Narongsak said earlier that mild weather and falling water levels over the last few days had created optimal conditions for an underwater evacuation that won't last if it rains again.

Families have not been told which boys are free, so all parents have agreed to remain at the cave until the entire team is rescued.

The goal is to get them all out before heavy rain forecasted makes it even more hard to reach them.

It appears that the team were going into the cave as part of an initiation ceremony which tasked the boys with reaching the end of the cave and returning having written their names on the far wall.
