National Basketball Association great LeBron James is heading to the Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James has called time on his stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers, penning a four-year, $154million (Sh15.4 billion) deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

No matter what happens, an organization that averaged 24 wins the past four seasons is a contender again.

The signing of James also gives Luke Walton a more productive player to run his offense. The Lakers, nor any other team for that matter, can not lean on the fruits of such a deal. They've added Al Horford, Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward while still drafting, and hanging onto, guys like Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier. But a playoff berth is, on paper, the best-case scenario, because the supporting cast isn't good enough to contend with the two powerhouses of the conference: the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. Now, how do Brett Brown and Co. go about replacing the two Europeans?

The Cavs could have significant salary-cap space in 2019-20, depending on what they do with Love, Tristan Thompson (who will make $18.5 million that season), Jordan Clarkson ($13.4 million), J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver. James was willing to accept all of that, which suggests he's not even close to done yet.

Though he and LeBron have always been closely compared, Kobe was glad to see James joining his former franchise. One of general manager Koby Altman's most critical tasks will be deciding whether to retain or trade Kevin Love, who will make nearly $50 million the next two seasons.

Not just Magic Johnson, Lakers' president of basketball operations.

This is the reality of LeBron's arrival in the Western Conference: Life in the NBA's Western Conference just became more hard for the Jazz. If they do get to the Finals and face the Warriors, the 76ers have a pretty good chance at dethroning them, in my opinion. How can we get better?

"When you have a goal and you're able to accomplish that goal, it actually, for me personally, made me even more hungry to continue to try to win championships", James said after the last loss. Magic Johnsons won five championships against the Celtics, Sixers and Pistons.

Those favoring James grew in numbers during those weeks he willed the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals with a postseason performance for the ages. The future remains blindingly bright in Philadelphia, a lot of success lies ahead of this young, talented and hungry team.
