Hero puppy saves owner from rattlesnake

Those are the words that Paula Godwin of Arizona used to describe her golden retriever, Todd, who she credits with saving her life.

Paula Godwin, from Anthem, Arizona, described how she was taking her two dogs for a hike on the morning of June 29 when she almost stepped on a snake.

A dog has been hailed a hero for saving his owner from a rattlesnake, taking a nasty bite to the face in the process. But soon it turned into a tragedy when her little Todd got bit by a rattlesnake fighting hard her to protect Godwin. Godwin took him to Anthem Animal Hospital where they treated his bite and gave him some much-needed TLC!

Ms Godwin rushed Todd to a vet for treatment.

Speaking in a video shared in the aftermath of the bite, Paula explained: "He for sure saved me from getting bit".

Godwin was about to step onto a rattlesnake when Todd jumped between her and the venomous reptile.

The courageous pup is expected to fully recover.

Todd is expected to be OK though. Godwin states that the fundraiser is not specifically for Todd, but to help others in need. "Just a thank you to all the support Your kindness and support is truly a blessing".

The six-month old puppy jumped in front of Paula Godwin.

"People from the Philippines have been contacting us with well wishes", she said.
