Woods among pack chasing lead at Muirfield

Woods missed a four-footer for birdie on the par-4 No. 14 and his par putt on No. 18 was more than three feet, which made dinner less tasty.

"I missed a lot of short putts, which is something I don't normally do, which is just frustrating", he said.

"I really didn't sit down as I was walking back-and-forward to keep it loose and keep myself warm because these are the things I don't know yet". Even so, he could only advance it 100 yards and made bogey for a 70. Woods remains hopeful saying, "I'm in position where if I shoot another good round like I have the last two days I've got a chance".

So did Woods, which helped him avoid another big number on a course where he has won five times. The last time he was at Muirfield Village was three years ago, when he shot a career-high 85 in the third round and had to play as a single Sunday morning.

Woods then remarkably hit the flagstick at the par-3 12th hole when moments later play was suspended due to the threat of a thunderstorm. "Had total control of what I was doing out there and just didn't finish it off". Much like last round Wood's ball striking was outstanding while his putting was far from it. Woods said, "I hit the ball well enough that shooting in the low 60s could have been pretty easy if I had just putted normal". "I had two par fives left". And I holed some putts early in the round and I didn't keep it going late in the round, but I hung in there and salvaged some pars coming in. But I needed to take care of five first. I'm able to make them now.

The par fives are what got Woods into this mess in the first place.

Byeong Hun An of South Korea (who carded a 69 on Saturday) finished the day tied alone in fifth at 12-under while Justin Rose of England, the victor last week at the Fort Worth Invitational at Colonial, was in sixth at 10-under after a 69 in the third round.

Jack Nicklaus said on Monday he believes Tiger Woods can still overhaul his record of 18 Major Championship victories.

Warriors fans cheer for J.R. Smith ahead of Game 2
The days between games couldn't come at a better time for Mr. 82 Games (for the first time in the regular season in his career). LeBron James kept Cleveland close despite Golden State's torrid shooting with 10 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Tiger Woods managed a five-under 67, which included an eagle at the par-five 11th. The ball went over an iron fence and into a backyard, out of bounds. That was still better than Jordan Spieth, who finished bogey-bogey for a 72 and missed the cut by three shots.

He attributed the slow start to tightness in his back, though he said that was no cause for alarm even with four back surgeries.

"I wasn't rotating very well today".

He was concerned about his repaired back, after tightness affected his game in the opening round.

"I recall in the '86 Masters I hadn't won for a couple of years and I got to the last round, and I got into the back nine after struggling on the front nine but then I made a putt on nine and I finally remembered how to play". His tee shot on the par-3 12th hole hit the flag and settled six feet away, but that's when the horn blew signaling a weather delay.

Woods got up-and-down for par on the ninth from 62 yards in front of the water after a poor drive, and that was big, too.
