Twitter today temporarily banned some users that were sharing White House senior advisor Stephen Miller's phone number on the service.

In a Wednesday night statement to Buzzfeed, a Twitter spokesperson said suspensions of all the accounts who had shared the article have now been lifted, since the phone number was been shut off and is no longer working. Yesterday, Splinter, a news and opinion site that was previously known as Fusion, published Miller's personal cell phone number.

The Times, which spoke to Miller on the record, said it conducted an "extended interview" with Miller over the weekend for an article about the Trump administration's zero-tolerance immigration policy, which includes taking kids away from their parents as they cross the U.S. -Mexico border.

"[For] Miller, the public outrage and anger elicited by policies like forced family separation are a feature, not a bug", wrote McKay Coppins.

Trump reportedly was hesitant to adopt the politically risky policy at first, but was convinced by advocates of it, including Miller. "The Post reports that a patron of the restaurant called out Miller - an immigration hard-liner - over the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy that separates migrant families caught crossing the border illegally".

Miller is widely believed to be one of the most fervent defenders of anti-immigrant policy within the White House.

"And while citizens plan protest marches and scream at Kirstjen Nielsen as she eats dinner, Miller himself has been rather unavailable for direct feedback from the public", the article read. Twitter locked numerous accounts that posted the number, as well as some that retweeted or shared the original Splinter article.
