Oculus Go VR Headset Sells Out in Hours

Pre-orders of the $200 Oculus Go virtual reality headset were snapped up by eager buyers in the middle of last night, resulting in the device selling out in a matter of hours, according to a Digital Trends report.

As well as the standard 32GB version for $199, there is also a 64GB model available for $249.

Facebook has released the $199 Oculus Go virtual reality headset during its F8 Developer Conference.

The new Go headset runs the same games and apps as Facebook's Gear VR system. The glasses come bundled with a remote controller. The VR headset will have built-in spatial audio and also an integrated microphone. Battery life is set around 2 hours for playing games, and about 2.5 hours when you're streaming media and video content. It's actually based on a smartphone processor, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 specifically.

At this point in time, there is no word on United Kingdom availability of the Oculus Go.

In contrast, other headsets - like the Lenovo Mirage Solo, which is built on Google Daydream technology and is expected to arrive in stores in just a few days - support 6DoF. Although few VR apps now support 6DoF, it's likely to gain traction as more virtual reality hardware reaches stores.
