Indonesian police have shot dead four sword-wielding men who attacked a police headquarters in Sumatra, killing one officer, the latest in a spate of militant attacks across the Muslim-majority country.
The group slammed a minivan into a gate and then attacked officers with swords.
Two officers were wounded in the attack, while another was killed after one of the perpetrators tried to escape and crashed into the officer, he said.
Last year, a suicide bombing at a bus station in Jakarta killed three police officers.
One of the dead men had a suspected bomb strapped to his body, the report said. The fifth suspect who fled was was later arrested, he added.
He said the men had driven their auto into the police yard before getting out to stage the attack.
Police have been frequent targets of mostly low level attacks by local militants, including a 2017 suicide bombing at a bus station in Jakarta that killed three police officers.
