Weeks after President Donald Trump thanked Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince for his country's use of US military power, the USA -backed coalition bombed a wedding party in Yemen, killing at least 20 civilians including the bride.

Sammad, head of the Huthis' supreme political council, was "martyred" in the eastern province of Hodeida on Thursday, the rebels said in a statement published on the Huthi-run Saba news agency.

The top provincial health official, Khaled al-Nadhri, told the Associated Press that most of those killed were women and children who had gathered in one of the tents at the party.

"We take this report very seriously and it will be fully investigated as all reports of this nature are", a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition told Reuters.

The Houthis say their missile attacks on the kingdom are in retaliation for air raids on Yemen by the Western-backed coalition.

The double air strike on the crowded party venue had left a number of dead bodies buried under rubble, the official said on condition of anonymity.

Yemen's armed Houthi movement fired two ballistic missiles at a Saudi Aramco facility in the southern city of Jizan on Monday, but Saudi state media said both projectiles were destroyed.

Aramco did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The debris fell in some residential areas.

"At 4.23 p.m. the Royal Saudi Air Defense detected the launch of the missiles and successfully intercepted them".

In late 2015, coalition air strikes on two wedding parties in northern Yemen killed at least 159 civilians.

Yemen's conflict has sparked what the United Nations has called the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
