BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) - NASCAR is hoping the Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway will be run on Sunday despite a wet forecast.

NASCAR and Bristol Motor Speedway officials announced today that the conclusion of the Food City 500 has been postponed until Monday, April 16th. "If you become free from it, it really is slick". If you get below it, it's slick. "So, it has been fun, but it really is kind of challenging to imagine at which you have to position your vehicle for just a small though".

Paul Menard took advantage of strong pace from all four Penske-prepared Fords to place third before the race stopped, ahead of pole sitter Kyle Busch - Hamlin's Joe Gibbs Toyota team-mate - in fourth.

Following a rainy Sunday morning, the race finally got underway at 1:34 p.m.

BUSCH CRASHES LATE: Kurt Busch was scheduled to start on the outside of the front row, but now is headed to the back of the field after a crash late in the final practice on Saturday. Ryan Blaney dominated Stage 1, leading 99 laps, but got caught up in a wreck before he could take the green and white checkered flag, handing the stage win to Brad Keselowski. "I feel like if we can get one knocked out of the way that more is kind of going to come with that, so we're going to continue to push this weekend". Overall I think we can get this race complete but going to leave room for a possible delay or two.

Building off a flawless restart, Larson grabbed the lead and quickly opened a five-second margin.

"Yeah, it's hard to get a rhythm with all the rain and stuff and then getting out of your auto and getting back in", Larson said. "Our [car] is really fast".

That means different conditions than the humid, 60-degree weather Sunday.

Larson led 74 laps before the race was postponed, but it was an eventful day between delays. "We were all just getting ready to move up to the top". You kind of just wait until you get to traffic, and then you can move up, and everybody's momentum is bogged down [on the bottom].
