Israel's Labor Party Leader Suspends Ties With Jeremy Corbyn for 'Enabling anti-Semitism'

On Saturday, following an anti-Israel demonstration in London, Jeremy Corbyn condemned "inhumane" actions of Israel over violence at the border with Gaza, as he called to "review the sale of arms" to the Jewish state.

Writing to the leaders of the Board of Deputies of British Jews (BoD) and of the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC), Jonathan Arkush and Jonathan Goldstein respectively, Corbyn said he accepted the organizations' agenda for a meeting.

Britain's Labour Party has been mired in controversy over allegations of widespread anti-Semitism in the party's ranks, with some criticizing Corbyn personally for not doing enough to tackle the matter.

"As such, I write to inform you of the temporary suspension of all formal relations between the Israel Labor Party and the leader of the Labour Party UK", Gabbay wrote.

"This, in addition to your very public hatred of the policies of the Government of the State of Israel, many of which regard the security of our citizens and actions of our soldiers - policies where the opposition and coalition in Israel are aligned", the letter by Gabbay continued.

In April 2016, Labour parliamentarian Naseem "Naz" Shah was suspended after a United Kingdom political blog unearthed a Facebook post in which she compared Israel to Nazi Germany and suggested that Jews were "rallying" defense of Israel.

In a message read out at a demonstration outside Downing Street on Saturday, Mr. Corbyn demanded that Prime Minister Theresa May support the United Nation's call for an independent worldwide inquiry.

In an apologetic video message for the Jewish holy holiday of Passover following the incident, Corbyn said, "we in the Labour movement will never be complacent about antisemitism".

JEREMY Corbyn has today lost the support of Israel's Labor Party over the ongoing anti-Semitism row - but has gained the support of Nick Griffin over Syria.
