Since the beginning of April, players have noted the meteor sitting up in the sky (see the red arrow), but nobody knows what it will mean for the game. Now users even claim to see UFOs among the meteors, leading some to believe that this teaser has something to do with an alien invasion. Though the Battle Royale portion of Fortnite is free to play, Epic does sell Early Access to its "Save the World" mode. Yesterday's emergency broadcast [VIDEO] in "Fornite" got players excited for what was to come.

Epic Games is making a ton of money with Fortnite. That seems to be the case, and with all of the hype now surrounding the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War, it makes a lot of sense that Epic would go with a superhero theme.

"The growth of Fortnite has been astounding to witness and getting players into structured practices ahead of the launch of a collegiate league will be extremely beneficial to our program", Buchanan added. One looks like meteor, and the other looks like a tower.

It could be possible that the superhero is here to protect the map from the impending meteor strike. The game hasn't even been out for a full year yet, and we are already going into its fourth season of play with new rewards, challenges, and more. Perhaps Epic is plotting a new set of skins based around superheroes for Fortnite's season 4 battle pass? This seems like a great theme with the impending release of the latest Avengers movie. The idea of a superhero theme sounds fantastic and could bring on some interesting challenges for anyone who has a Battle Pass for the next season.

The extended downtime lead to Epic Games giving players a free backbling item and Battle Stars to make up for the delays.
