As if to cover itself in glory for the House wash-out, the NDA MPs would be giving up their salaries and other allowances for the 23 days for which Parliament was not allowed to function, allegedly by the Congress Party. Yesterday, a furious Sonia Gandhi had slammed Ananth Kumar for targeting her in the Lok Sabha and said: "I think it's shameful that the parliamentary affairs minister can speak such lies on the floor of the house".

MPs from 17 Opposition parties led by Congress on Thursday formed a human chain near Gandhi statue in Parliament House complex on a variety of issues, including special status for Andhra Pradesh and Cauvery issue.

Naturally, Kumar's comments did not go down well with Congress and the party in turn alleged BJP of maintaining a double standard.

Union Minister Ananth Kumar on Thursday accused the Congress of being exclusively responsible for derailing the second part of the Budget Session and said that Members of Parliament of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance Government would not take salary and allowances for 23 days of the session when business could not be transacted.
