Members of Parliament, who were protesting outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in Lok Kalyan Marg over their demand of special category status for Andhra Pradesh, were detained on Sunday.

RS Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien and Secretary General Desh Deepak Verma met the protesting MPs, requesting them to vacate the house but they refused to budge, saying they were fighting a "Dharma Yudh" for their state and its people and would continue unless their demand of a special status was met. This is not democracy, it is arrogance.

The protesting MPs, who were democratically doing protest, were detained on the way by the CRPF, Delhi Police who dragged them away ruthlessly. "It is sad that the respectable MPs were sent to jail when they went to meet him", Kejriwal later told reporters.

"The prime minister is the person to take decisions on special category status". It should be granted. We condemn their detention and fully support demand for spl status of AP.
